Removing Mold From my Leather Jacket

Beautiful black leather. My black leather jacket is my favorite Winter accessory. If I could, I’d wear it everyday. Living in Florida, our “cold weather” days can be…sporadic. The temperature will dip into the 40’s or 50’s for a few days then jump back up to the 70’s and 80’s. The weather proceeds this way for a few months, then progressively becomes warmer until summer arrives. My black leather jacket makes an appearance only a few times every winter. It spends the rest of the time in the back of my closet. Fo this reason, it sometimes can grow mold.

Searching for a good, uncomplicated way to remove mold from my leather jacket, I found a blog by Taza Leather titled 3 Simple Steps to Remove Mold from Leather . It entails making a solution with 4 everyday household items, applying it to the leather surface you wish to clean, and then reconditioning your leather. The blog even includes a great YouTube video . It was a simple, effective article by Taza Leather. Having all of the ingredients on hand in my kitchen, I mixed the solution, applied a small portion to a small corner on the underside of my jacket to test it first. Seeing it worked well, I applied it to the remainder of my jacket and removed all of the mold. Just as the blog stated, I also reconditioned the leather of my jacket. The ingredients of the solution dehydrate the leather, so it’s very important to rehydrate it with a leather deep conditioner and a microfiber pad or cloth.

My black leather jacket looks like new again thanks to the Taza Leather blog. I will be ready for when “cold weather” strikes again.
